After photographing Lauren + Rob’s maternity session I was on alert waiting for Robbie to be born so I could photograph his at home Bedford newborn session. But Robbie took his good ol’ time. Lauren was due right before Thanksgiving, but he wasn’t born until the beginning of December!

Lauren and Rob have a beautiful house that was perfectly decorated for Christmas, like it was right out of a Hallmark movie. And Lauren had some really cute holiday ideas for Robbie’s at home Bedford newborn session that I was excited to photograph. To top it off, they recently had their wedding anniversary… so I think they just like this time of year!

We started with Robbie dressed up in a Santa newborn outfit under the Christmas tree and in front of the fire. The sleigh was actually Lauren’s when she was little.

Robbie is one of the most alert newborns I’ve met and he knows his Mama’s voice. Whenever Lauren would talk to him he would stop moving around and start smiling.

Lexie the Labradoodle is such a good big sister, she makes sure to follow her baby boy wherever he goes in the house and checks in every once in awhile with a sniff.

My favorite kind of newborn pictures are the simple ones of the parents with their new baby. Lauren and Rob’s living room provided the perfect neutral background with plenty of natural light from all the windows in the room.

Lauren’s necklace in this picture is actually Robbie’s heartbeat! Such a beautiful gift for a new mom!

You can tell Rob is so excited to be Robbie’s dad. He smiled so much whenever he held Robbie. He was really into the newborn session and very helpful. Even though Ben had recently tested negative in his routine Covid testing and we wore mask, we didn’t touch Robbie. Rob did a great job of changing his outfits and he is a pro at swaddling Robbie. But Robbie is a pro at getting his hands out of a swaddle.

Since Robbie is also a winter baby, Lauren had the cutest setup with Robbie in a newborn reindeer outfit. How cute is that hat!?!

I love the greenery that Lauren brought in for this picture and the little white tail on the reindeer pants!

This may be one of my favorite pictures from Robbie’s at home Bedford newborn session! It shows just how small he is in his daddy’s hands.

He didn’t like having his hands all wrapped up, but Robbie’s forest green swaddle was perfect for the pictures with just his mommy and daddy.

I love this picture of Lauren holding Robbie with Lexie at her feet.

I know parents are always concerned about their babies crying during a session, and believe me I don’t want them to cry either (I go over ways to keep the baby happy before the session). But I actually like capturing a couple crying pictures because let’s be honest, that’s real life! And crying baby pictures are cute too!

We’ll end on this adorable squishy kiss face! So stinking cute!

Lauren and Rob, congratulations on Robbie and enjoy your first Christmas with him! He is such a cutie and I hope I’ll get to continue capturing your family as it grows and changes!
