Meet Savannah! Her personality is as cute and sweet as she looks in these at home newborn pictures.
Savannah’s Momma, Carrie Beth, is my roommate from college and also a past Cassady K Bride! I’m always incredibly excited to be asked by friends and past Cassady K Couples to come back and photograph their changing families. I feel like it allows me to keep in touch in such a special way.
My goal during at home newborn pictures is to get the baby to relax so much that they yawn or smile a little in their sleep. Savannah was completely comfortable and relaxed during her close up. Of course then I have to change them and put them in a new pose and I feel so evil disturbing their sleep. If I can keep them asleep while I change and adjust them I feel like I’ve won the lottery!
As Savannah’s Penn State Auntie, it is my duty to make sure she has PSU attire and knows who to root for. Even if she’s already giving me a little attitude in the picture. 🙂
My favorite way to photograph newborns is to keep it as simple as possible. I love lifestyle at home newborn pictures. A simple bassinet or crib with a swaddled baby is the best!
Savannah loved having her hands by her face which meant I could easily capture all her little details.
I honestly can’t pick a favorite out of the bassinet pictures.
I prefer to photograph just the baby first. It allows me to use all my little tricks to calm them down. Keeping babies fed, warm, and in a clean diaper is usually the combination for a happy, sleepy newborn. The remaining time is then spent on family pictures so it’s easier if we need to give the baby a quick feeding before the family pictures.
You may remember Carrie Beth + Nate from their wedding a few years ago. It was the last wedding I photographed before Covid. We were all giving Nate a hard time for choosing February 29th because it was such a cold day and for it being on Leap Day. Little did we know, he was actually brilliant because literally the next weekend everything began shutting down.
Side note: I love seeing my pictures that I took of their shoes and details from their wedding on the wall in these pictures!
The cute little sheep outfit was one of the first pieces of clothing that Carrie Beth bought before they even knew they were having a girl.
One last Penn State one! She looks like she’s roaring, “We Are!”
Congratulations Carrie Beth, Nate & Savannah! You have such a sweet little family!
