You may remember Jess & Ted’s engagement session that I posted this past Spring. Well they are getting married this October and I happen to be the maid of honor in their wedding. SO EXCITED! Anyways, as part of my MOH duties I got to help throw her a tree-themed shower (we both have this obsession with trees)….and yes you can do a tree-themed shower. So two weekends ago, with the help of Sheri (Jess’s mother), her bridesmaids, and the heavy lifting of her father and brother we were able to throw her a pretty special bridal shower if I do say so myself :0) I may have gone over the top with this….just maybe.
As a warning this wasn’t something I whipped up in a couple of weeks…this was months of planning. Ben tend to makes fun of me because I either procrastinate and don’t get everything done or I plan ahead but give myself too many projects and can’t get everything done. In this case it was the latter.
So please enjoy the pictures…my mother said that the pictures don’t do it justice, is it bad if I tend to agree?
Let me explain something, I’m a graphic designer as well as a photographer. So I began by designing the invitations and then that carried all the way through the shower and into the thank you cards.
Ok so I arrived an hour late to set up everything because of course I slept in which delayed everything. But when I arrived Jess’s mother, father, brother, and bridesmaids were all there to help me quickly put everything together. They were absolutely wonderful and I could not have done it without them!
You’re going to see a lot of hand made items, no worries I took pictures of pretty much everything and I plan on posting the diy projects later on!
Jess’s dad pulled out the Model T that Jess and Ted are going to drive away at their wedding. It completed the vintage feel.
I spent a lot of time at the local thrift store collecting old frames and glass. But you cannot beat it when you can get stuff for 50 cents instead of $5-$10 at regular stores. I’m not going to lie I became slightly addicted to going every Saturday and finding some awesome pieces.
Sheri did an awesome job with the salad bar and drinks. She made a blueberry punch that was AH-mazing! I think I may have to post that recipe so you can try it!
I had this grand idea to make cupcakes instead of having cake. Jess doesn’t really like cake so I figured I could make some cheesecake cupcakes too for her. I made 5 types of cupcakes: Snickers, White Chocolate Mocha, Angel Food Cake, Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake and Oreo Cheesecake. I heard they were all delicious but I was not in the mood to try them after making them and from being in the heat. (I have to give a HUGE shout out to Chelsy who stayed up til 1AM with me the night before trying to finish them and cleaning up after me. She’s pretty much the best!)
As part of my cupcake display I wanted glass vintage cake stands so between family, friends and the thrift store I found a bunch of b-e-a-utiful cake stands. (Ben says I’m crazy for all of the glass I collected. I say I’m just smart because now I can use it our wedding.) We had one disaster during the day…a cupcake fell on my shoe…the shoe was cleaned eventually, however the cupcake did not make it :0(
And finally a group shot of Jess with the bridesmaids. That’s Kristen and me in the top row and then Courtney, Jess and Chels in the bottom row. Jess’s dad built a wonderful waterfall (No it was not built for the shower….now that would be over the top) and it was the perfect back drop for the shower.
I also need to say thanks to Kimmy for taking most of the pictures, I was running around like a crazy girl but Kimmy was able to take all the pictures I wanted!
