When Ben and I went to DC to see the cherry blossoms a couple of weeks ago we also got to see our friends Courtney + Dave who we know from college. They live outside of Washington DC  so it was the perfect chance to see them and finally get to meet their little girl, Maddie. Plus they’re expecting another little girl soon so it was the perfect opportunity to do a little cherry blossom family maternity session!

I’ve heard that it can be pretty busy during the Washington DC Cherry Blossom Festival so Ben and I actually went the day before to scout out locations. I found this fenced in area by the Thomas Jefferson Memorial that had an opening to it and was relatively free of people. It turned out to be perfect for shooting the next day, plus we could let Maddie run a little. We visited the memorial right there and on the way back we heard two of the park rangers talking about how the area that we shot in wasn’t supposed to be open. Whoops! hahaha Well I’m glad we got in there when we did!

Oh Court, you’re so beautiful!

Ben watched Maddie as I had shot some pictures of just Courtney + Dave. They had a fun time exploring/eating grass and were buddies by the end. I had to stop and get a couple shots of Maddie because oh my gosh is she adorable!
