Awhile back I wrote about SPARK, the group of women photographers I get together with. They really are a great group of girls that have been a real support system. This past November the SPARK girls decided to host a free photography workshop. Yes, I said FREE! Instead of competition and rivalry, these girls chose to be open, share and bring together a community of photographers. As I was fairly new to SPARK, it was really amazing to be a part of and to experience. Sorry I’m a little late at posting this!
It was a pretty cold day in Central Park, but everyone layered up, drank coffee and used hand warmers!
SPARK was started by two amazing photographers and women: Caroline Frost and Amy Rizzuto.
Mekina emceed the workshop.
Cassi spoke about exposure and lighting.
Once Cassi was finished, everyone went out to test out what they learned.
Once everyone was back together, Caroline taught about posing and composition. And Leandra and her husband graciously agreed to be our models.
Everyone went out again and practiced what they had learned from Caroline.
Then Amy was up to teach about marketing.
As Amy was teaching a wedding party came by the “Cop Cot” gazebo to get married so we moved out of their way and onto the grass.
Finally, Jainé spoke about getting your work published.
Once the workshop was over, we went to get some food and get warm! It was a full day with lots of information, but it was so great to get together with so many other photographers.
