I originally wasn’t going to share this post today. However, I realized with so many marriages ending these days that a post about a marriage that has lasted for 40 years is a big deal. These are Ben’s parents, Ingrid + Mike, and my in-laws. All of Ben’s family got together a couple of weekends ago to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.
Ben’s sister, Elizabeth, did a wonderful job planning the party and pulling everything together.
Ingrid’s wedding dress is still in wonderful condition. She said she didn’t even really do anything to preserve it, she’s just kept it hanging in a garment bag.
Elizabeth had a bakery recreate part of their wedding cake.
The flowers at their wedding were white and yellow daisies so we tried to do the same. Ingrid said that she even went out with her aunt on the the morning of the wedding to pick some of the flowers in a field.
The Adams family.
Ingrid + Mike and their kids.
Who knew Great-Grandpa’s cane could be so entertaining?
All the grandkids.
Out of all the speeches, the common theme was how committed Ingrid + Mike are to one another. Their marriage hasn’t been easy, but they both knew they were in it for the long-haul.
Mike’s father, brothers and sister-in-laws all came from Ohio to Eastern PA for the party.
Ben put together a slide show of pictures throughout the 40 years.
We made them cut their cake 🙂
Congratulations Ingrid + Mike on 40 years! I’m so honored to be a part of the family and Ben and I really do look up to you and your marriage.
