I love all the different types of parties for first birthdays: Some Bunny is One, One in a Mellon, You’re the One that I Want, or Winter Wonederland. For Teddy’s first birthday his theme was: a Wild One year old birthday. Scroll down to see how creative Teddy’s momma, Lauren was with this theme.
If you don’t recognize this family, then where have you been? Just kidding, I’ve been so fortunate to photograph so many milestones in this growing family. They have such a beautiful house, the cutest pup, Lauren’s creativity, and of course the sweetest family. 🙂
I was photographing a wedding on the weekend of Teddy’s actual birthday party. But, I was able to make it the weekend before so we could get some portraits of him. Unfortunately it was a rainy day so we couldn’t photograph all of Teddy’s Wild One year old birthday pictures outside. But their house has a cute stoop so we were able to photograph a lot of the family pictures outside. (While Ben held a umbrella over the two of us out in the rain.)
Rob made these cute little chairs for the boys out of just a log.
Big brother, Robbie was a little unsure of getting his picture taken, even though I’ve photographed him before. A lot of kiddos go through the different stages: loving being the center of attention, to being really reserved about pictures, to not being sure how to smile, to wanting to direct the session and tell everyone where they should stand. I just roll with it and I tell parents not to worry because they won’t stay in that stage long.
Being able to photograph at their house over the years means I can photograph in some of the same places. Lauren has added photos to this wall from past sessions so we can compare the pictures and also how the family has grown.
We really wanted to photograph Teddy’s wild one year old birthday with Lauren’s amazing setup outside. Thankfully they have a large living room with a neutral wall color. Lauren is really talented in designing and making these setups. I always know when I take pictures for Lauren that she will have it all under control and it will be cute and creative.
We put Teddy into his safari themed setup and it was so cute to see him explore it all. Teddy’s newborn session included airplanes so there’s been an intentionally or unintentionally theme of exploring for Teddy.
Lauren also made a cute little white cake for Teddy’s cake smash at the end. His big brother, Robbie had a similar cake at his Winter Onederland themed first birthday.
Teddy had no problem digging into his cake!
Teddy found his inflatable animal friends for his wild one year old birthday. He made sure we included them in the cake tasting. 🙂
Happy first birthday to Teddy! You are adorable and so full of life. I hope you never change; and the way you ate your cake, I hope that never changes too 😉
