I recently had the chance to photograph baby Madeline’s Doylestown family newborn session at their home. Two years ago, I photographed their older daughter Juliette as a newborn. It was great to spend time with the family again! I always feel honored when a family continues to use me to photograph their family. The kiddos always grow up too fast!
Emily and Alex have such a classic and timeless style, which always comes through in their home and outfit choices. Emily’s love of blues and all the soft textures around the house; made for a clean, cohesive look throughout the session. Emily is so good with pulling all the little details together – from their clothes to around the house. She had monogrammed bows for the girls, outfits that all went together, plus I loved seeing some of Juliette’s printed newborn photos displayed around the house.
We kept the session as relaxed and simple as possible, focusing on a mix of posed and natural moments at home. In-home sessions like this one really highlight each family’s unique personality and environment. It makes it easier for everyone, especially for a toddler and newborn to be in their own space. We were able to grab snacks or toys for Juliette whenever needed and she could relax in her own space when she needed a break.
Juliette is a fantastic big sister already. She was excited to help and even had opinions on what Madeline should wear—she didn’t like when we put a ribbon around Madeline and only wanted pictures with her in a blanket. She even helped take the bow off and wrap her. She was clearly made to be a big sister, already offering fashion advice to her sister. 😉
We had to get at least one family picture with the family pup! We took a similar one during Juliette’s newborn session. Check out Juliette’s blog post to compare!
If you’re interested in a more laid-back, natural approach to capturing the newborn, baby, even toddler stage, an in-home family newborn session is a great option.
Congratulations Emily & Alex on your second perfect baby girl!
