Northern NJ Newborn Session | Cecilia

Family of 5 in front of the Christmas Tree during a northern NJ newborn session

When I first began photographing I wanted to focus on weddings. That’s all I wanted to book: engagement sessions and weddings. But over the years I have found that there is truly something special about a couple inviting you back into their life after their wedding to capture their family as it grows.

I first met Kaitlyn + Tommy when I photographed their engagement session and wedding. They both come from two truly exceptional, loving families and the love and joy between Kaitlyn + Tommy was so clear. It didn’t surprise me at all that they would have a family with 3 kiddos. Recently I had the pleasure of photographing another milestone, the birth of their baby girl, Cecilia, in a northern NJ newborn session.

Their home was so beautiful and they’ve put so much work into it. I could have photographed anywhere and it would have been stunning!

Tommy is the oldest with two younger sisters so now his family is set up the same way!

With newborn sessions, I love to focus on the small, intimate details: the way a parent holds their baby, the tiny features that change so quickly. With Cecilia there were so many beautiful moments to capture during her northern NJ newborn session.

It’s amazing to watch how families grow and change, and this newborn session felt like a continuation of a bigger story—a story that began with Kaitlyn + Tommy’s wedding day, continued with the birth of their first two children, and now, with Cecilia, has entered a new chapter. This session wasn’t just about documenting the birth of a new baby; it was about capturing how Kaitlyn + Tommy’s relationship and their family life have evolved over time. It was a reminder that the best parts of life often unfold in the most unexpected, beautiful ways over time. I feel like I just photographed their wedding and they already have 3 kids!

One of my favorite parts of newborn sessions are when the parents get to just take a moment to spend with their baby. To hold them, look at their new little one, and take in all that has happened. They wait and and anticipate what their little baby will be like for 9 months and then in a moment it all changes and they’re here.

Oh my gosh I think this is my favorite picture. There’s nothing like capturing all the little details, especially when the momma is snuggling her new baby.

Congratulations on the arrival of Cecilia, your sweet third child! It’s been such a joy to see your family grow, and I can’t wait to watch as your kids grow and create memories together. Thank you for inviting me into your home to document this special moment in northern NJ newborn session.
