At Home Pittsburgh Newborn Session | Leonie

A not so silent night during an at home Pittsburgh newborn session during Christmas time

Leonie is my best friend, Chelsy’s little girl. She’s Chelsy and Jonathan’s youngest of 4 girls. Yes, 4 girls! I haven’t got to spend as much time as I would have liked with Leonie during her first year like I did with her sisters, thanks to Covid. But not her older sisters, the family dog or Covid was going to stop this little one from growing and becoming her own. Leonie actually just turned 1 the other day and from videos, one visit this summer and zoom chats I can tell she can be easy and go with the flow as the youngest, but she is also fierce and protective of what is her’s as the youngest. All good characteristics for a girl to have!

In honor of Leonie turning one and because these pictures are perfect for the season, I thought I would share Leonie’s at home Pittsburgh newborn session. We of course started by the Christmas tree since she’s a December baby.

She was totally mesmerized by the lights.

I love a baby in a basket. After a not so Silent Night/30 minutes, Chelsy fed her and wrapped her up in a blanket for a more neutral look for her at home Pittsburgh newborn session.

I love getting all of the little details from the nose, lips, ears, fingers, and all the way to the toes. They don’t stay small for long so I love to be able to capture just how small they started out.

I actually bring a heater and keep it plugged in and running, obviously not directed at the baby. This keeps the space warm so babies are more drowsy and it provides a nice white noise. This worked out wonderfully considering we had three older sisters and a dog running around while we took these pictures.

Chelsy wanted to capture Leonie in her coming home outfit and she posed like a little doll baby!

Look at that smile of a milk drunk baby! haha It is so important to keep the baby well fed and their diaper clean. I realize it may mean going off what little schedule you’ve formed, but if those two things are taken care of then usually the newborn is pretty easy going and sleeps through most of the session or gives me cute milk-drunk smiles. 🙂

And we’ll end on this picture: Leonie telling me, no more pictures please!
