November weddings in New York can always be a big unknown. I’ve shot them when it’s 60º outside and I’ve also shot them when it’s snowing. Plus the sun sets so early in the day because of daylight savings that a first look is almost a must in order to get all the portraits done. I helped Mekina from Mekina Saylor Weddings shoot this wedding and thankfully her couple trusted her enough to tough out the cold and do a first look so that they could have beautiful portraits at their Madison Hotel wedding.
Normally as a second shooter I hang out with groom, however he didn’t want pictures of himself getting ready so I got to hang out with Mekina and the bride.
I love that grandma brought her throwaway camera to take pictures. She was too cute.
I was so glad the bride was willing to go outside, so pretty!
Check out that bouquet! I love all the colors 🙂
How cute is the flower girl? You’ll see lots more of her! haha
Time for the first look!
I think it’s so cute when brides and grooms check each other out in their first look. I especially love when brides fix their grooms tie or boutonnière.
I love these portraits so much, they’re all so pretty and they’re so cute together.
Pretty lace detail on the back of the dress.
I mean seriously, they look like models.
This one should be a canvas.
The rest of the day was held in the conservatory. All the glass windows and big chandeliers were stunning.
I snuck outside for a couple minutes during the ceremony.
While the guests enjoyed cocktail in another room, the conservatory was transformed for the reception.
I loved the second look the bride changed into for the reception.
Told you the flower girl was too cute!
The bride and her grandmother ended up cutting the cake together!
If you’ve read any of my other posts where I second shot with Mekina then you know I love this girl! I love working with her, learning from her and helping her out. We always have such a fun time shooting together! Make sure to check her website out!
