Whitby Castle Wedding | Sara + Anthony Rye, NY

June 6, 2019

Sara + Anthony were married on a beautiful day in May. It rained the day before and the day after, but their day was perfect for a Whitby Castle wedding. I know Sara + Anthony from church and before they were even dating so this was a special wedding for me to photograph.

Sara gave each of her bridesmaids a necklace with flower pressed in glass and cuff links to her bridesman.

Sara created and designed so much for their Whitby Castle wedding, just wait until you see everything.

Sara painted this big canvas for the church as well.

The ring bearer and flower girl carried matching antique bronze swan baskets.

Anthony’s guitar teacher and friend played during the ceremony.

This was such a sweet moment when Sara reached the end of the aisle.

Sara + Anthony’s ceremony was Greek Orthodox and included so many special traditions.

The church was so beautiful and Sara + Anthony loved the ornamental decor so we went back inside for some portraits.

They rode in the Rolls Royce from the church to Whitby Castle so we got pictures at both places, but the picture with the castle behind it is definitely stunning.

The Whitby Castle was also the perfect backdrop for their portraits.

One of the things Sara was excited for was “to become Greek.” She definitely looked like a Greek goddess with her flowing dress and gold headpiece.

Sara carried Anthony’s grandmother’s purse that she had used on her wedding day.

Whitby Castle has so many little nooks and crannies that were perfect for portraits!

Not only was the castle beautiful, but so are the grounds. Whitby Castle is located on a golf course with water behind it so the backdrop is gorgeous.

I love Whitby Castle’s banquet room! It is so light and airy with giant windows on all three sides.

Sara wanted a lot of color, florals and greenery throughout her wedding day and the reception definitely had that theme. The reception really showed off everything she had made like the canvas she painted for people to sign the guest book.

Sara also painted canvases with each table number on them. As soon as her and Anthony were engaged she even started painting little canvases for each guest. And not one single table number or guests’ canvas was the same.

Their wedding was on May the 4th so they entered in to the Star Wars’ theme.

Sara + Anthony were both excited for the Greek dancing at the wedding. I loved watching how all Anthony’s family members knew the dances and welcomed anyone who wanted to learn the dances.

Congratulations Sara + Anthony! I was so honored to photograph your Whitby Castle wedding and  to see your relationship come for circle from meeting each other, to becoming friends, to dating and then engaged and now married. I’m so happy for the two of you!
