I love surprising other people! Giving gifts, surprise parties, even just arriving earlier to my parents’ then I told them when we travel to see them. So naturally I love engagement proposals! It’s so many good things all together: a surprise, love, one step closer to marriage, a beautiful ring, and pictures!
I loved working with Stavan for his Madison Beach engagement proposal. They’ve been dating since their senior year of high school! Stavan planned for everything and was very detailed because he specifically wanted a waterfront proposal since they both loved the beach. We even emailed Google maps back and forth and I drew which way he should face and Nikita should stand so that I could get the best reaction shot and for the best light.
Thankfully I was able to also able to bring along my husband and he took some shots from a different location so we could get two angles.
So jealous Ben got this shot! I love the water hitting the rock in the background!
Once Stavan knelt down I knew they were both in their own “little bubble” so Ben and I moved in a little closer.
I love the shot on the right of Nikita checking out her ring as she hugged Stavan! With proposals and first looks I try to read when they’re finished and wait for them to come out of “their bubble.” We had moved in relatively close when Stavan introduced Nikita to us. It was so funny because she had absolutely no idea we were there and had been taking pictures the whole time.
Once the proposal was finished we still had time to take some portraits by the water. I had arrived early and scouted out not only the proposal spot, but other areas as well for pictures.
Working on my double-exposures and I really love a double exposure with water!
Off to the right on the rock was where Stavan proposed, but there was a beach there that was perfect for some engagement pictures. Poor Nikitia had walked all the way out to that rock in high heels through sand and uneven rock so she gladly took them off for some of the pictures. She was a trooper because even though it was spring, it was chilly!
They were just so happy and in love!
I loved Stavan’s black velvet suit jacket! And he was sweet enough to share it with Nikita! She looked great in his jacket!
Such a beautiful ring!
Stavan proposed at the Madison Beach Hotel‘s beach and then had planned for them to have dinner and stay the night there. It was a perfect way to celebrate their engagement and call their family! Even their family in India!
Congratulations Nikita + Stavan!
