Since it’s the new year I thought it would be the perfect time to stop and introduce myself. I’m Cassady and I’m a wedding photographer in New York. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, but moved to be with my husband in Westchester, New York when we got married four and a half years ago. I studied photography and graphic design at Penn State (where I met my husband, Ben). I shot my first wedding in 2009 and remember feeling like I was finally doing what I was meant to do. Since then I’ve shot more and more weddings each year until I went full-time with Cassady K Photography in 2014.

If you’ve been on my website or followed me on social media then you may already know that I love the color pink, baking, reruns of Friends, puppies, Disney and being a wife. For today’s 5 on Friday here are 5 things you may not know about me:

1. I love crafts! Painting, sewing, scrapbooking, coloring, decorating… I just love having other creative outlets. I’d like to learn how to do stained glass some day.
2. Ok this is an embarrassing one for me, but I’m scared of birds. I don’t know what it is, but whenever one flies near my head I close my eyes and drop to the ground. It’s some kind of instinct that I can’t seem to stop, but is sooooo embarrassing when it happens. I will also walk out of my way to avoid a bird on a sidewalk.
3. I’m a homebody. I can stay in our apartment for a week without going outside in the winter. That’s one of the many reasons I want to get a dog, so it makes me leave the apartment.
4. I’ve never been further west in the United States then Illinois. We’re hoping to make it to Texas and visit Chip & Jo in Waco this year : ) I also want to do a big road trip out west in a RV someday, I just need to find someone who would actually want to do it with us.
5. I’m pretty much always cold unless it’s the dead of summer. I would so rather shoot a wedding on a 90 degree day than a 32 degree day.
