August’s Goals

August 13, 2018

If I’m being honest, the end of July and so far the beginning of August has been tough. I’m not really ready to share it all, but I haven’t been feeling the best and it hit me like a ton of bricks. (No, I’m not pregnant!) Luckily, with the help of Ben, I was able to rearrange my schedule to take some much needed rest.

We started July off with a fourth of July pool party with our friends and then headed down to Florida for a week vacation with my family. (I’ll be doing a whole post on that.)  July was really about self-care for me, which I’m not so good at. We spent lots of time at our friends’ pool and Ben makes a pretty darn good pizza on the grill. We also got a membership to the zoo so we could go with our friends and their little boy. My garden has been taking off and we’ve had such a good crop of Zinnias that I’ve had fresh flowers in the house all the time. Plus Ben got a fire pit this year so we’ve spent even more time outside roasting hot dogs and making s’mores.

For August, I’m starting to feel a little better and more like myself. I’ve still been taking it slow, but I’m learning what I can actually say yes to. So August’s goals are going to look a little different than previous months’ posts:

Business Goals:

  • Blogging is going back to once a week for now. I put so much pressure on myself to blog and get upset when I don’t meet deadlines. (For instance this was supposed to be posted last Tuesday.) So to reduce that pressure I’m going to only schedule one blog post a week and if for some reason I feel like I can do more, than I’ll post more.
  • I’m shooting Kaitlyn + Tommy‘s wedding at the end of the month! They are so sweet and I’m really excited for their wedding! Plus I have a really great team that day that’s going to help me out so much!
  • Honestly, I’m doing just enough to keep the business going right now. It’s going to be a busy enough time with shooting and bringing on 2019 couples (YAY!).

Personal Goals:

  • I want to keep spending time in our garden and yard. It’s been raining a lot which is nice since I don’t have to water our garden. I really love going outside when Ben gets home from work and I pick the vegetables and flowers while Ben grills or gets our fire pit going.
  • We live on the second story of a house and I was talking to our new neighbors on the main floor the other day about their black lab, Nala. Basically what it came down to is they don’t like leaving Nala all day and I offered to bring her up into our apartment some of the time. 🙂 YAY!!! So we’re not getting a puppy, but I’m so excited to have Nala’s company and I get a little bit of training for when we get a dog one day.
  • Do you remember Kristina + Phil’s engagement session?!? Well my sister and her fiancé are finally getting married on the 18th. I’m actually in the airport, as I type this, on my way home to Pittsburgh to offer some backup the week before the wedding. (There are always so many little details to do the week before!) I’ll be doing some basic business items, but in general I’ll be working for my sister all week. 🙂

I can’t wait until Saturday!
