March’s Goals

March 1, 2018

To be honest I have a hard time during these winter months because of the dreary, cold weather and with not a lot going on. I tend to want to just hole up in the apartment and hibernate until the sun, flowers and green decide to reappear. I feel bad for Ben because I’m usually not too pleasant. So this winter I’ve tried to make more of an effort to get out, see people and do things. I don’t want to be busy just to be busy, but I want to do things that I know will make me smile and will hopefully make give me a little energy. So that’s what I did this past month.

I went home to Pittsburgh at the beginning of the month to visit my family which made it a little difficult to come back to NY. But I made it to Spark NJ twice (And got to meet Jessica Oh’s puppy!) and I watched Reece a couple of times for my friend Steph… both of these things definitely make me happy. We also visited Ben’s family for a really nice weekend to celebrate Ben and Katelyn’s birthday and to take Laura’s maternity pictures. Then I finished the month off with a girls’ night at my friend Jackie’s where she taught us how to make dumplings celebrate the Chinese New Year.

This is what I have lined up for March’s Goals:

Business Goals:

  • I have to say, I’ve been enjoying blogging just once a week. I know that come May I’ll probably go back to blogging twice a week. However, for now I’m enjoying having a little more time each week to get some of the business work done.
  • I have been slowly editing my second shooting from 2017. I usually only edit one wedding a week so it’s been going well and it feels good to finally get through those images.
  • I’m so proud of myself, I’ve actually been going through the educational courses I purchased in the past couple of years. I finally finished Katelyn James’ Consistency Course that I bought like 2 or 3 years ago. Now I’m working on her Lighting and Locations course. I think it’s really important to keep up with whats going on in the industry and continuing to learn more about my business and craft so I’ve really enjoyed doing these courses at home.
  • This month is Spark NJ’s free workshop, Ignite! I’m so excited to attend the 3rd one and help out with it! Last year’s was so awesome and inspiring!
  • I shoot my first wedding this month! I shot Katie + Julio’s engagement session this past fall and I can’t wait for their wedding at the end of March!

Personal Goals:

  • So I’ve still been going to the gym, it hasn’t always been twice a week. But I at least go once a week. Ben took me to see The Greatest Showman for Valentine’s Day and I’ve become obsessed. The soundtrack is my new favorite thing to work out to. I’m hoping to get back to going twice a week during March.
  • Since our weekends have been pretty free I’ve been editing personal images on the weekend. It feels so good to finally get through them and share them with friends and family. If I finish everything I have planned this month then all I should have left is our 3 trips from 2017 to edit.
  • I went to Home Depot last weekend and started picking out what I want to plant this summer. We’re hopefully going to have a little more space to plant this year so I’m really excited to add some additional flowers. I know I can’t start planting yet, but I can at least buy the seeds!

Happy March!
