Annual Family Vacation | Long Boat Key, Florida

July 25, 2014

After Disney World, Ben and I drove down to Long Boat Key to meet up with my family for our big family vacation. And when I say big, I mean big… we have a family reunion every year and this year we had around 75 people.

When we first got there we found out that my sister, Maddy, and Steve had got engaged! So our family went out to dinner the first night to celebrate!

My immediate family with the newly engaged couple in the middle!

My family has been going to Four Winds for 11 years now. But my extended family have been going even longer.

There’s the whole family the day of the reunion. We actually had a memorial as well for my Great Grandma who passed away this past year at the age of 97. She left a big family behind (they’re not even all in the picture), but she joined my Great Grandfather who she missed.

Four Winds is right on the beach so our days were spent between the pool and the beach.

There was lots of playing in the sand and collecting seashells.

We also searched for crabs in the evening.

And played volleyball… the family is actually getting better since we’re all growing up.

There were fireworks too!

And of course there was lots of picture taking!

They’re a starfish!

Aren’t the little boys just so cute!!

Our new beach picture 🙂

We also took glow sticks into the pool at night… if you haven’t done it yet you should! It’s surprisingly fun 🙂

I had my birthday while we were in Florida. But this year I decided I didn’t want to grow up any more so I called it Cassady’s Day instead 🙂

Not only was the cake very pink but I had Disney Princess candles.

I recently bought a new macro lens so of course I had to experiment 🙂

I also messed around with the shutter speed… do you see the ghost?

My Grandma lives in Florida so before we left we stopped by her house and I rummaged through all her old pictures and my Great Grandma’s pictures. This is one of my Grandma when she was little.

This is a picture of my Great Grandma and those are her two engagement rings my Great Grandfather gave her. Apparently the story is that a lot of my GG’s friends were getting remarried and getting new engagement rings so my Great Grandfather bought her one… so cute 🙂

And that was Florida, lots of eating and laying around outside!
