One year old sessions are becoming one of my favorite types of family sessions, especially when I get to try out my new travel portrait studio. The kiddos are officially a toddler and they’re at such a fun age of exploring, finding almost anything entertaining, and trying to walk.
Meet Savannah! Her one year old session was extra special because I photographed her newborn session last year and because she’s the daughter of my roommate from college. Pictures are always a great reason to see Savannah and hang out with my roommie, Carrie.
For Savannah’s first birthday I brought along what I’m calling my “travel portrait studio”. I’m still developing it, but it’s a great option for inside pictures when it’s cold outside and there’s not a picturesque indoor option. So far I have the lighting and a nice big, white backdrop.
Savannah’s grandma (Carrie’s mom) brought her little chair that she used as a child.
Carrie bought this cute sweater and it came just in time for her pictures. I absolutely love it!
We also had Savannah’s grandfather’s child rocking chair that was originally his grandfathers.
We always needs some pictures with the parents. It was chilly outside but Savannah lasted long enough for a couple pictures.
This was the whole reason I wanted to bring my travel portrait studio. Savannah in white and on the white backdrop to really show off her features, especially her blue eyes.
Oh my gosh, her with her white pacifier and clapping! So cute!
Changed and ready for her cake smash!
I love watching how each kiddo approaches their cake smash. Savannah didn’t go crazy, but she definitely enjoyed the icing and preferred it over the cake.
“How big is Savannah?” Always got a cute reaction!
We ended up with a little icing in her hair, but overall Savannah wasn’t too covered. Happy 1st birthday Savannah! We’re not going to let a whole other year go by before I get to see you again!
