Run Moo Run!

May 6, 2014

Let me just say I’m the proudest big sister! Maddy completed her first marathon this past weekend in Pittsburgh! She’s been running since high school and has done 5K races and half marathons but decided last year to go for the full 26.2 miles… I said she was crazy but knew she’d do it without a doubt.

I should explain that I call her Moo. We all used to call her Moody Maddy but she wasn’t very fond of it. So I started calling her Moo which is apparently acceptable. We wanted to make sure that she had a proper cheering section so we named ourselves “Moo’s Crew” and made sure we hadmatching shirts, cowbells, a poster and loud mouths! She couldn’t miss us!

We saw Moo at 4 different spots, she was looking pretty good around mile 5.

Still looking good around mile 7ish!

Jess ran the half marathon!

There were some pretty awesome costumes that I thought should be mentioned. And yes the fireman was running the full marathon.

I loved the girls running in tutus! I think that’s how I would run if I ever did.

The race was on May 4th so there were some dressed as Star Wars characters for Star Wars Day. There was also a guy holding a blow-up alpaca and saying “hit the alpaca for 2 minutes off your time or kiss it for 5 minutes”. And that guy on the right ran the full marathon in a kilt and sandals.

If you’re from Pittsburgh than you’ll appreciate the Kennywood sign 🙂

Loved watching the little kids give high fives!

It was so cute watching this lady carry her toddler across the finish line. The guy on the right was blind and ran the whole marathon tethered to his friend. His friend’s shirt said “Puppy” on the back 🙂

Here comes Moo down the final stretch. She looked a lot more intense and focused at the end!
